As per the Nursing Council’s CPD Regulations 2023, every registered nurse and midwife should complete 10 CPD points in the preceding year in order to be eligible for renewal of his or her licence. Failure to complete the 10 CPD points will lead to non-renewal of license, rendering the person to be unable to practice as a nurse or midwife in the Republic of Mauritius.

CPD refers to the process through which nurses maintain and improve their skills, knowledge, and competencies throughout their career in order to maintain safe and effective care delivery.
According to the Nursing Council Act 2003, all nurses must earn the mandatory 10 CPD points in order to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest practices, standards, and knowledge in healthcare delivery.
Usually, one and a half hour of training, give you 1 CPD point and a minimum number of fifteen hours of CPD training is equivalent to 10 CPD points each year. However depending on the nurse category, the amount may vary, see below:

Nurses can earn the 10 statutory CPD points by either participating in only seven online courses and three face to face courses relevant to Nursing. He/she can earn all the 10 CPD points by face to face sessions or a blend of courses with respect to the limitation of online CPD points allowed by the council.
Nurses must keep supporting documents like certificates or proof of participation (logbook photo) of their CPD activities.
When the total points needed is reached, all CPD proofs must be uploaded via the “Renewal” form on this page.
Failure to meet the CPD requirements may lead to a delay or rejection of your licensure renewal.
The Nursing Council may consider cases of hardship on a case to case basis including offering extensions or additional support to help meet the requirements.

Random visits and audit will be carried out regularly by councillors and in cases of suspected or allege dishonesty, Nurses and providers will have to provide evidence of participation and providers the physical holding of activities. Any dishonest activities will be dealt with severely or referred to police for criminal investigation and actions.
