Required Documents

- Morality Certificate 1 year recent (if you do not work)
- A Letter of Conduct from your present employer (if you work)
- Proof of 10 CPD points (Nurses above 65 yrs are exempted)
- Work permit (where applicable)

Renewal Fees

Up to 60 years old : Rs 1,000
Over 60 years old: Rs 700
With not less than 15 years’ practice or more in nursing or midwifery
Temporary registration : Rs 1,200

Who needs to register as a nurse in Mauritius?

All individuals intending to practice nursing professionally in Mauritius must be registered with the Nursing Council of Mauritius. This includes:

  • General Nurses
  • Mental Health Nurses
  • Specialized Nurses
  • Midwives
  • State Enrolled Nurses
  • Assistant nurse

To register, applicants generally must:

  • Hold the relevant nursing qualification (e.g., diploma in general nursing, psychiatric nursing, or midwifery)
  • Be of good character, with no convictions for fraud or dishonesty
  • Not have been removed from any nursing register abroad due to professional misconduct or negligence
  • Not suffer from any mental or physical incapacity that may impede nursing duties

Foreign-trained nurses must provide:

  • Detailed syllabus of their nursing programme
  • Transcript of training from the awarding institutions
  • Police Clearance certificate from their country of origin​
